L3 Harris AN/PVS-31A

2376 MIN. FOM UNFILMED WHITE PHOSPHOR ($13,700)

2376 MIN. FOM UNFILMED WHITE PHOSPHOR AVIATION GRADE ($14,900.00)

The L3Harris AN/PVS-31A is an extremely light weight binocular night vision goggle. The PVS-31A was designed by L3 in conjunction with USSOCOM to replace the PVS-15. The unit features an articulating housing with manual gain, a battery pack, and incredible tube resolution.

The PVS-31 can be run both off of an onboard AA battery or powered from the included battery pack. Because of the lightweight design, the user does not need to run a counterweight and can simply use the battery pack to balance the helmet. The PVS-31 battery pack also has an on-board IR strobe for signaling and aerial identification. The IR strobe is operated by a single switch on the back of the battery pack. One great thing about the ability to run a battery pack is the speed in which the goggles can be up and running. With the PVS-31 the user simply can drop the dovetail on a Wilcox G24 mount and plug in the battery cable to the battery pack port on the PVS-31 housing and use their goggles.

The AN/PVS-31A has an articulating housing with independently rotating optical pods. This lets the user deploy both tubes or a single tube. This is especially helpful when users are deploying their PVS-31’s while using a thermal device. The optical pod articulation also lets users stow their goggles without having to flip the goggles up on the helmet mount. This reduces snag hazard and additional height added to the helmet.

The ACT in Black DTNVS (Dual Tube Night Vision System) is a rugged and feature rich articulating night vision goggle. The DTNVS night vision goggle features an articulating fiber reinforced polycarbonate housing, independent pod shut off when articulated, and an on-board illuminator. Because of the articulation, users have the ability stow their goggles folded back toward the helmet. This reduces the overall footprint of the system when stowed. This gives the end user great flexibility when operating in various environmental conditions. Optional IPD stops can be added so IPD adjustment is consistently in the same location when pods are articulated to the down position.

In addition to a very rugged design, the DTNVS features independent pod shutoff when articulated. This means that when the pods are articulated out away from the eye, they shut off eliminating any visible glow and preventing accidental light damage when articulated. This is a particularly helpful feature for users that are using handheld thermal scanners or using a weapon mounted clip-on or thermal device. This also gives the user the option to run only one pod and keep one eye unaided.

Another unique feature to the DTNVS is the low battery indicator light inside the unit. Although, other night vision goggles have low battery indicators, they can widely be affected by temperature. The DTNVS adjusts for cold weather temperatures, so the low battery indicator offers a more consistent reading than other units. The low battery indicator warns the user of approx. 30 min of remaining power. Although this is not an exact science, and some variance still can be seen this is a huge improvement over other systems that can have huge swings in the actual time a battery lasts after the low battery indicator lights up.

DTNVS Ocular Lenses

DTNVS use PVS-14 ocular and objective lenses. This makes them familiar to many users and adjustable to each user’s eyesight. Adjustable ocular lenses are very nice as eyesight can change over time. In addition to PVS-14 ocular lenses, DTNVS can be built with Dep Ether Ocular lenses. DEP Ether ocular lenses are 30% lighter than PVS-14 eyepieces, offer a larger eye box, and lock in place once focused.

2376 MIN. FOM UNFILMED WHITE PHOSPHOR AVIATION GRADE ($12,600.00)

L3Harris BNVD-1531

The L3Harris BNVD-1531 is the result of the L3Harris focus on continuous product improvements in the areas of size, weight, performance and power consumption. The 1531 offers a lightweight, ergonomic design similar to the AN/PVS-31 but with significant weight reduction over the AN/PVS-15. It also incorporates features such as adjustable diopters, manual gain adjustment, individually rotating monocular and an integrated infrared illuminator. The 1531 can be operated as a helmet-mounted or handheld system.

The two main differences between the BNVD-1531 and the PVS-31A is the integrated IR illuminator and adjustable diopters. The BNVD-1531 uses standard Milspec PVS-14 optics which gives the user focusable diopters, but also, allows for a more cost-effective solution.

The BNVD-1531 can be run both off of an onboard AA battery or powered from the included PVS-31 battery pack. With the PVS-31 the user simply can drop the dovetail on a Wilcox G24 mount and plug in the battery cable to the battery pack port on the BNVD-1531 housing and use their goggles.

The L3Harris BNVD-1531 has an articulating housing with independently rotating optical pods. This lets the user deploy both tubes or a single tube. This is especially helpful when users are deploying their BNVD-1531’s while using a thermal device. The optical pod articulation also lets users stow their goggles without having to flip the goggles up on the helmet mount. This reduces snag hazard and additional height added to the helmet.

Tube Specs

The BNVD-1531 uses L3Harris Unfilmed White Phosphor autogated image intensifier tubes with a 2376 min FOM rating from the factory. These unfilmed tubes provide incredible clarity, low light and high light performance, and increased depth perception. These are L3’s most advanced intensifier tubes and offers significant performance increases over other white phosphor systems.

** 2376 minimum FOM Unfilmed White Phosphor:

FOM: 2,376  minimum

Milspec Spot Spec: can have max 4 spots per tube larger than .003″, no spots larger than .003″ in zone 1.  Spots </= .003″ are acceptable.

** 2376 minimum FOM Unfilmed White Phosphor – Aviation Grade:

Aviation Spot Spec: Max 3 spots per tube larger than .003″ in zone 3, no spots larger than .003″ in zone 1 or 2. Spots </= .003″ are acceptable.

This option is for our customers that want a stricter spot spec offered from the factory.  This option is hand selected strictly to meet the above aviation spot spec. Even though PVS-31a’s in general have incredible tubes, spots are still a reality in all night vision. If you are a customer that wants to ensure a stricter spot spec this is a great option.  Please understand that although an aviation spot spec is way stricter than the Milspec spot spec, spots </= .003″ are still acceptable and are a reality of night vision.

Please allow for additional lead time for aviation grade as this is a stricter spot spec than offered from L3Harris.  Since we cannot order these to an aviation spot spec from L3Harris we cannot quote a definitive lead time.  On average this option takes 30-60 days longer than the standard option.

The ARNVG (Articulating Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle) is an extremely rugged articulating binocular night vision goggle which features an onboard illuminator and battery pack capability. The ARNVG offers superior ruggedness and durability from a billet machined aircraft grade aluminum housing. Using an aluminum housing provides extra impact resistance which far exceeds MIL-STD-810H drop testing.

The ARNVG uses push button switches for both power and the Infrared Illuminator. The IR illuminator button is guarded by a fence with distinctive contours to prevent inadvertently activating the IR illuminator. Indicators in the viewing area alert the user if the IR illuminator is on, or if the unit senses a low battery condition.

The optical pods on the ARNVG articulate along the bridge allowing the user to adjust inter-pupillary distance and stow the goggle. When the goggle is helmet mounted and in the stowed position, the optical pods can be folded back flat against the helmet to minimize neck strain and better protect the goggle, and the user, from impacting overhead objects.

The optical pods automatically turn off when articulated up. This feature prevents illumination on your helmet when one side is articulated up and ensures that the image intensifiers are ‘off’ in the stowed position. The force required to swing the optical pods is user adjustable using a flat coin or brass in the field.

In addition to superior durability, the Articulating Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle offers a flexible power supply. The ARNVG can be powered off the on board CR123 battery or with a lemo port compatible battery pack. This offers the user the ability to retain the ruggedness of a dovetail mounting system while running an external battery pack.

ARNVG Ocular Lenses

The ARNVG uses PVS-14 ocular and objective lenses. This makes them familiar to many users and adjustable to each users eyesight. In addition to PVS-14 ocular lenses, ARNVG’s can be built with DEP Ether Ocular lenses. DEP Ether ocular lenses are 30% lighter than PVS-14 eyepieces, offer a much larger eye box, and lock in place once focused.

The RNVG (Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle) is a fixed bridge binocular night vision goggle which features an onboard illuminator and auxiliary power connector. The RNVG offers superior ruggedness and durability from a 7075 Aircraft Grade Aluminum housing. Using an aluminum housing provides extra impact resistance and protects important contact points on the goggle.

The optical pods on the RNVG move along the bridge by turning inter-pupillary distance adjustment screws on each side of the bridge. This allows the user to perfectly position the pods over their eyes for the best image. One benefit to this adjustment style is once the IPD adjustment is set it will not move on the bridge. This allows for a fast deployment of the goggles when flipped up on a Wilcox G24 mount.

In addition to superior durability, the Ruggedized Night Vision Goggle offers flexibility for power supply. The RNVG can be powered off of the on board CR123 battery or with a LEMO port compatible battery pack. Elbit F5032 Lead Time: approx. 90-120 days

The Elbit F5032 (PVS-31D) is an extremely light weight binocular night vision goggle currently being fielded for US military applications. The unit features an articulating housing with manual gain, on board illuminator, incredible tube resolution, and adjustable diopters.

The Elbit F5032 is run off of an onboard AA battery which provides 30hrs off of a single lithium AA battery. The unit also can accept an optional Elbit Battery Pack. Because of the light weight design, users do not experience normal neck fatigue like with heavier legacy systems. This eliminates the need to have extremely heavy counterweight systems that greatly increase the overall weight of the hemet system. The single power knob turns the unit on / off, controls the onboard illuminator, and controls the gain adjustment.

The Elbit 5032 has an articulating housing with independently rotating optical pods. This lets the user deploy both tubes or a single tube. This is especially helpful when users are deploying their 5032’s while using a thermal device or reading natural lighting conditions. The housing on the Elbit 5032 features individual pod shut off when articulated. This feature protects the tubes from accidental light damage and prevents glow back on the users face. The optical pod articulation also lets users stow their goggles without having to flip the goggles up on the helmet mount. This reduces snag hazard and additional height added to the helmet. This is especially helpful while driving and moving in and out of tight spaces.
